The 2nd Slovak - Japan Conference on Applied Mathematics is organized by the Union of Slovak Mathematicians and Physicists, section Bratislava 1 (Jednota slovenskych matematikov a fyzikov, pobocka Bratislava 1).

The conference is devoted to mathematical modelling and computational methods in science and engineering. The main conference themes are

* evolving curves and surfaces and free boundary problems
* computational fluid dynamics and conservation laws
* reaction-diffusion systems
* image processing and computer vision
* computer graphics, computational geometry and visualization
* mathematical and computational modelling in biology and medicine
* mathematical and computational modelling in geosciences
* mathematical and computational modelling in economy and finance
* optimization and control
* high-scale and parallel computing
* software for scientific and engineering computations.

Invited Speakers: Masakazu Akiyama (Hokkaido University, Japan), Hideki Murakawa (Kyushu University, Japan), Mariana Remesikova (Slovak University of Technology, Slovakia), Robert Straka (AGH University of Science and Technology, Poland)

The conference scientific programme will begin on Sunday, September 14th, 2pm and it will be finished on Thursday, September 18, afternoon. We plan to have a track of 25-30 minutes talks of participants, 4 longer invited lectures and depending on number of participants also a poster session.


* Conference venue. Conference will take place in Hotel La Perla. Hotel is located in recreation centre Obrucna, part of village Radzovce. The venue lies in beautiful location Cerova vrchovina in the South-Central Slovakia, near the border line between Hungary and Slovakia.

* Complementary Activities. Together with the scientific programme of the conference we plan the social activities devoted to exploration of the natural and cultural beauties of the Gemer region - Somoska castle, old bazalt mines and Europe's unique bazalt rocky waterfall, Europe's unique Ochtina aragonit cave (World UNESCO heritage) and 14th century frescoes in Gemer-Malohont gothic churches.
